On April 25, millions of families were affected by the worst earthquake that Nepal has experienced in 80 years. Large parts of the country have been plunged into darkness, hampering relief and rescue efforts. In response to the disaster, the International Rescue Committee (IRC) is working with its established partner, the Association for Aid and Relief Japan (AAR), an organization directly responding to this disaster. All WakaWakas which are donated from the US will be distributed by the IRC and AAR. We need to get as many WakaWakas on the ground as soon as possible to keep families safe at night and to aid the rescue efforts. Nepal is already suffering everyday because of the rampant energy poverty; over 70% of the country does not have access to electricity. WakaWakas will have a lasting impact on the lives of Nepali families.
