Support the Philippines

Delivering clean water and safe sanitation is the IRC’s first focus. People have lost their income, their food stocks, their agricultural land has been decimated. The aid is reaching the major hubs, but it’s very difficult to reach the areas that have been hit hardest because roads have been washed away. There’s no power, there’s no communications.

WakaWaka’s solar powered devices provide immediate assistance as well as long-term relief. Enabling the survivors to see after dark and to charge their phones to connect with family members elsewhere. In addition, emergency response teams also need a source of light and power to gear up for their relief efforts.

For every WakaWaka you purchase, we will donate one to the IRC, who will ensure the WakaWakas get to the survivors who are restarting and rebuilding their lives after the catastrophic destruction wrought by Haiyan, the strongest tropical cyclone to hit land anywhere in recorded history. Buy one and Give one to the Philippines. Read more about how you can help here.

Tyfoon Haiyan: Storm clouds covered the entire Philippines, stretching 1,120 miles. The 195mph tropical storm winds, with gusts up to 235mph, covered an area the size of Montana or Germany. The typhoon first roared onto the country’s eastern island of Samar, flooding streets and knocking out power and communications in many areas of the region of Eastern Visayas, and then continued its march, barreling towards five other Philippine islands. Predawn Saturday, the now weakened storm headed to Vietnam.
